Patrice was pregnant when she decided the GED test was the best option for her to further her education. She had experienced so much within her 20 years but said her daughter was her biggest motivation to earn the credential. She explained, “I want to show my daughter even if she quits from her plan A there will always be a plan B. Graduating high school was my plan A but obtaining my GED soon became my plan B.”
While Patrice was going through this process she had a lot of support from her friends and family. They helped babysit her daughter and kept her motivated. However, she believed the thirst for a better future for her daughter and herself helped her overcome challenges she faced along the way.
Patrice loved the GEDWorks program because it subsidized the cost of the test and provided her with a student advisor who helped her every step of the way. She recommends the programs because she believes people have nothing to lose by trying to earn their GED credential.
She’s excited to share, “I plan on going to college and major in marketing to get a better job and open new doors for my daughter.”
